Through the official portal of the Municipality of Venice, visitors can book access to the old town in advance. The process is simple and intuitive, ensuring smoother organization for everyone. This digital approach is practical and also allows for the collection of valuable data to monitor and continually improve the management of tourist flows.

For those planning to explore Venice in 2026, the Access Fee will be applied on 60 specific days between April 3 and July 26, focusing particularly on periods of higher tourist demand.

From April 24 to May 3, for example, the contribution applies every day, in anticipation of a busy week that includes the May 1 International Workers’ Day. In July, it applies only on weekends (starting on Friday). The contribution is in effect from 08:30 to 16:00.

Booking in advance is practical and economical, because the cost of the Access Fee varies depending on the booking date:

• 5 euros for bookings made at least four days ahead.
• 10 euros for those who book in the last four days.

This pricing structure isn’t arbitrary; it’s designed to encourage early planning, ensuring smoother management of visitor flows and a more relaxed experience for everyone, preventing periods of high attendance from putting pressure on the city’s infrastructure and services.

Other categories, such as residents of the Veneto Region or tourists staying in accommodations, must register on the official portal to obtain the exemption.

And what if we are tourists who have chosen to stay overnight in the city? In this case, we’ll not have to pay the fee, as we are already subject to the tourist tax included in the accommodation cost. Furthermore, exceptions may apply for some major events, to encourage participation in cultural and sporting events.
